Pre-treating garden pests

With spring upon us, pre-treating the garden for pests has been on my mind. Last year, we had a couple of hop vines and a honeysuckle newly planted in one of our garden beds. As the summer wore on, they were all attacked by spider mites. The spider mites also got into our roses and peonies. Thankfully, we were able to cut back a significant amount of subbery to eliminate the mites, but we lost the hop vines and honeysuckle. We’re going to replace them, but also by taking preventative measures this time around.
